Small Trader Advert Checklist for Faster Used Car Enquiries
A strong advert does not need to sound expensive. It needs to answer the buyer's obvious questions quickly, avoid misleading claims and make the car easy to understand. Clear adverts usually save time because they reduce repeated messages and weak enquiries.
Lead with the facts buyers scan first
The top of the advert should make the car identifiable: year, make, model, trim, engine, gearbox, mileage, fuel, body style and price. If the car is category recorded, say so clearly.
Do not bury the important details under generic sales language. Buyers compare listings fast.
Use bullets for specification
Feature lists are easier to scan as bullets: parking sensors, camera, navigation, heated seats, Bluetooth, cruise control, service history, MOT length and keys.
Keep the list honest. If a feature is not tested, do not present it as guaranteed.
Write condition notes like a trader, not a poet
Good condition wording is specific: starts, drives, no warning lights, clutch and gearbox feel, bodywork condition, tyre condition, interior condition and known marks.
For repaired salvage or category cars, explain the damage and repair status plainly. That builds trust and avoids wasted viewings.
Finish with viewing and payment clarity
Tell buyers whether inspections are welcome, whether test drives require insurance or ID, and what payment methods you accept.
For handover, make sure DVLA keeper transfer is handled correctly and your invoice wording matches the sale.
